Questions About Your Publishing Independence? Answers Here…

On this beautiful day the word “independence†is on the minds of many. Are you thinking of it as well?
You might, for instance, be wondering if it would be worth your while to publish a book on your own, independently, or if you would get more out of joining a group. Your thought may be this: that contributing to an anthology could be a better route for you. If it is, let’s talk more about it.
This week I announced a new book project, an anthology, featuring top entrepreneurs including one of the best: Donald Trump. The title: How the Fierce Handle Fear: Secrets to Succeeding in Challenging Times.
Hearing about this book may have sparked your ruminations on independence—and brought on a few questions well. And that’s good! Making the decision to contribute to a major book is an important one, and you should have all the information you need to make the decision that’s right for you.
So today I sat down and wrote out all the answers to your questions. Please read each one thoroughly and let me know if you need to know more. As always, you can go to the anthology’s site for other details.

1.) How will the book be organized?
The book will be divided into five sections, each one dealing with an area where we all encounter some kind of fear at one time or another. Each author’s ideas will be considered and placed in one of the sections. If that section is full, we’ll gladly work with the author to develop another idea for their chapter. The sections will be:
*Business
*Family/Relationships
*Physical Challenges
*Money/Finances
*Spirituality
2.) Who will own the copyright to the work?
Each author will retain the rights to their own material. You are providing permission for the use of your essay in the book.
3.) Can you tell me more about the plans for marketing and promoting the book?
There are several pieces to the marketing we plan for the anthology. Some will be carried out by an agency and some will be carried out in concert with your co-authors. They include but are not limited to:
**a full marketing campaign to be carried out by Penny Sansevieri’s company, Author Marketing Experts. This campaign will focus on getting the book both online and offline coverage including pitches to magazines and television stations. Penny’s agency produces monthly reports on her campaign results and these will be shared with you.
**an Amazon.com bestseller book launch organized by me. You would be expected to participate in the launch, joining other partners I will recruit to promote the book as well.
**advertising placed in Peter Shankman’s HARO emails, which currently go out to 75,000 readers. This group will probably be much larger by the time our book’s ad runs.
**individual marketing plans that each author will be encouraged to execute on their own, including sending pre-written press releases to local media. Also, the co-authors who live in close proximity to each other will be encouraged to have group book signings so they can draw bigger audiences and more sales.
4.) What will be the price of the book?
The anthology will sell on sites such as Amazon.com for $14.99. However the price of the book will not be printed on the cover. This will allow you to sell the book on your own site and at events for whatever price you wish.
Any royalties generated from store book sales will be donated to Frank McKinney’s Caring House Project Foundation, a nonprofit organization he founded in 1998, that provides a self-sustaining existence for some of the most desperately poor and homeless families around the world.
5.) When will the book come out?
Our projected publication date, assuming everyone meets the October 1 deadline for submission of their materials, is February 1.
6.) What if I need help getting my chapter written?
That help can be provided to you, happily, at no extra cost.
I very much want you to know this: while my goal is to produce an excellent book, I have an even bigger goal to get each and every one of my co-authors the visibility they deserve to help bring their businesses to a new level.
This is not a backburner project. This is not one of those books where your copies are simply printed up and you’re left to find your own way to market the book. This will be a quality, bestselling experience for all the co-authors involved.
I very much hope you will be one of them.
